City Services
Thornton provides a full-range of services to its population including
sanitation, land use planning and water service. City crews maintain 655 miles
of water and sewer lines. Solid waste collection and recycling service is
provided to nearly 24,000 homes a year.
The City Development Department supervises the activities of private builders of
residential subdivisions and commercial development, reviewing all development
permits, specific use permits and subdivision plats to ensure Thornton
communities are well planned and well built. Residents can also obtain permits for construction projects for their private residence.
