In regards to the station options for 144th, I would think the more appealing option to the residents that are affected and originally opposed this station would be the option on 144th. I think the station option that is off York street and closer to Rocky Top Middle School will have a negative affect on the middle school and traffic on York Street. To minimize the affects on a community that was highly opposed to a station at this location, the station option that is further away from the school will, if only minimally, slightly appease the affected residents. As well, 144th Avenue is considered more of a major roadway than York. 144th also has very good access to I-25 and E-470.
There are so many acronims that I can not understand what they are saying. to many of the items in the roport are vauge or so general that you could read anything into them or understand nothing of them. 1.There is several references to areas that may be disturbed such as historical sites, anthorpolgic areas or city and state park areas. Why are they going to be threatened and how? Doesn’t state and federal laws protect those areas? ¶ 2. All the residents or at least the majority of the residents in the 112 th area do not want a station in their back yard. Why does RTD keep shoving it down our throats? It is on a dead end street and too close to other stations.   I am two blocks from the tracts and could see them if the houses on the next street were not in the way.
I like the computer comment stations.
Great methodology. Thorough and insightful with vision for impact over time with the beast of cost effectiveness always in mind. We are DELIGHTED :) with the east and west stations for 112th ave being brought forward and deleting the "no station" option. We are very supportive of either configuration!! Although the west version appears to be a better use of the existing land. No- you’ve been very thorough, methodical and followed governmental regulations. My fear is that cost could impact the implementation of the North metro Corridor. We admire your patience, credibility, tolerance, and willingness to involve the public in a project dear to the quality of their lives. We think you should consider having a remote with a mute button and a fast forward button just in case you might need it at future meetings :)
112th should have a station. No- I personally find the existing system to be quiet.   I hope the 2015 date remains firm. I look forward to riding one of the first cars!
No. Thank you for your thoughful and involved process in these decisions and their processes. I do wish EMU had been selected. as a taxpayer I would have been willing to pay more in order to use EMU. Better air, quieter, less foreign oil, etc...   Bicycle integration. Please remember that cars aren’t the only way we want people to use this system. That include PNR design, bringing bicycles onto the train, and connecting to bike paths and lanes as much as possible.
I support a station at Denango Farmer’s market and I support TOD.
Is the sound wall concrete or some other material. How high is it?
how long are we going to be delayed at RR crossings?
do you have more details about the train schedule?
will we re evaluate DMU given new advancements in technology over time?
does the sound study include the noise from the horn?   Who pays for the cost of the crossings?
Glad for stations at 144th and 124th. Need to relieve cramped and unavailable parking at 120th. Would it be possible to add P-n-R and buses before NM is completed? Worried about paleontological sites. Glad you found them, but they need to be preserved. Consult with faculty at CU or CSM? Have problems with shifting soils been observed?   Excellent work overall.
Cost ($) seems to be a primary evaluation method (using the DMU recommendation as an example). I would like to see a cost evaluation that accounts for noise mitigation costs, and compare that to what it would take to re-explore the I-25 alignment (where noise mitigation wouldn’t be as costly). Other factors to include would be property value benefits (property tax income for govt), and non-tangible benefits. Joe mentioned that RTD was setting its own standard above FTA’s standards for noise. I appreciate that. However, there was no mention if RTD was looking at vibration in the same way. Please don’t allow my house to "rumble", especially on this soil. I worry about the affect it will have over time to the foundation of properties along the corridor. N/A I want to work with RTD to make this a cost-effecive and successful project. If we are using cost as a primary criteria, I fear that there is a risk of still making the "wrong" decisions. I come from the mentality that if you are going to do something, do it "right". Yes, cost should be a factor, but it shouldn’t be the only factor. Clearly, the right thing to do for the residents along the corridor would be to move the alignment along I-25. The population concentration (and negative imact thereof) would be greatly reduced, and the alignment would be closer to commercial properties (ideal for commuter traffic). Please don’t do this project cheaply. Do it right.
I am happy to see Thornton official here. Who do I work with to deal with noise wall issues? Who maintains the walls?
How is the RR plans o extend north to fort collins being incorporated or considered?
Parking impact in neighborhood - how will it be dealt with?
with loads in peak will alignment be double track?
what is the noise level when compared to an airplane or other common noise sources? How about air quality.
How do you do a noise study? what is a quiet zone and how does it affect safety? why did the price change for the UP?
What about underpass at 136th and York?
on southern side are we still running along the existing tracks? What about safety- like what happened on the Mineral Line with trai vs train collisions?   Was DMU selected to coincide with the technology choice made by the Ft Collins line?
112th parking and traffic impacts.
Why are we not going north of 168th across I-25 to an area where a big park n ride could be constructed? This would mitigate impacts on our neighborhood.
Why are we not going to Ft Collins?
Why have we removed the station I like?     We haven’t had enough meetings in Commerce City. Who was consulted in Commerce City?
How and why did UP costs change? Why were we not ready for this?
Need other reference for noise such as airplanes taking off or landing.
What about the other wildlife than was presented at the meeting? What happens to prarie dog colonies and the animals that depend on them for food if they are relocated?   Why aren’t we considering other types of trains? We are too dependent on foreign oil.
the 120th park n ride is always full. So I am happy to see the new stations at 112th and 144th to relieve pressure on 120th.
How will scheduling of games downtown be factored into train schedule (operations)? Will it run beyond midnight?
How soon will the park n ride be built above 120th. Will they be built sooner?
Are existing bus services going to be cancelled when the rail service is implemented?
Prefer west side station at 144th Ave. ¶ Concern about east side station at 144th Ave due to potential impact to rural character of neighborhood north of 144th along Elizabeth.     Traffic could backup across Elizabeth St. if station is on east side of 144th, when gate is down for train crossing.
What is the schedule for the design and construction periods
What about a greenbelt in the north end of the project. Who do I talk to about this?
We support FasTracks and we support TOD at the Denargo farmer’s market.
I am not happy about this. Why is it that you can use eminent domain on us and not on the RR? Why are we getting shut off by the RR. I also want quiet zones.
I have no use for the RR! They have been inconsiderate to all our needs and blow their horns too much.
We support the Burlington Alignment. We’re doing a white paper on this now.     We think this transportation project will connect Elyria, Globeville, and Swanson Neighborhoods and make them more liveable. We need some wise land use planning and consideration and we can be a big part of the North Denver community. 140 neighbors have signed our neighborhood plan and it goes along with the new look related to the new maintenance facility, etc..
If you are going to use the BN alignment and you don’t have to buy the UP near Purina and put a station near the Coliseum, which makes sense since there is an elbow there for connections. Why don’t you coordinate with CDOT on I-70 improvements and this at the same time. There should also be another station further north to serve the neighborhoods and help redevelopment. If you put in a rail station there the empty school bus lot could be a grocery store. We don’t have any grocery store’s around here now. We have a very transit friendly environment to meet RTD and DRCOG goals.
Let’s get out of the RR and get high speed efficient rubber tire vehicles to meet our needs. I feel that we are prisoners of the RR’s wishes now. Let’s use I-70 or some other option. The RR can outwait everyone.
How far along are you on where the stations will be and how many?
The opportunity is now to ride the aluminum can to work. When you set up the stations and get recycling to pay for rides. Stations are cheaper now than later.
68th Ave station- you set aside options A, C, and D and left B which requires a lot of property acquisitions. How do you get to the 68th Avenue stop given current alignment? For several years you said the NW station is preferred at 68th- what happened to it. I believe the NW station option allows for the most opportunity for future expansion of the system. And there is less noise and vibration at the NW most station. No one lives near that station within 1/4 mile.     Who was consulted in commerce city about stations and alignments? What is the priority of this project- transportation or TOD and developers?
the furthest north station was the most viable- lots of good connections to roadways and highways there. Best for future development.
Whya are we taking all this guff from the RR. Why can’t we take their land?
WHen will alignments be decided?
Consuming the entire Atwood property near 88th and Welby, Thornton is a miss use of the site and an undue burden on a single property owner.
as the property owner’s of the swansea station location, I support the continued negotiation to secure the original alignment with the uprr.
I say the hell with the RR. Use your powers to designate ROW on existing roads for buses or use rubber tired fixed guideway solutions.
Due to the fact that you aren’t going to buy the switching yard at 40th does that mean the RR is not moving the switching yard. And by not going up Sand Creek Junction- we can’t hook up with the NATE project then.
Our neighborhood wants I-70 in a tunnel- I know it’s not your project but it is on your map. The neighborhoods do not support the I-70 alignment.
